Grain idol spreads message to protect farming in Kopar Khairane

Kopar Khairane: An unusual Ganesh idol made from grains is drawing attention at Kopar Khairane, where the Shri Swami Samarth Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal has created a themed display to raise awareness about protecting agriculture.
The mandal, celebrating its 23rd year, has installed an idol crafted from rice, wheat, jowar, maize, bajra and varai. The accompanying display showcases traditional farming practices, different crops and the importance of organic agriculture. It also highlights the impact of chemical farming on soil and the environment, urging citizens to consider sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices.
The organisers said the display aims to help the younger generation understand the importance of farming, develop greater respect for farmers and spread awareness about organic and environmentally responsible cultivation. The unique concept was conceived by mandal president Raj Chorat and has become an attraction for devotees visiting the Ganeshotsav celebrations.
The initiative combines religious festivities with a social message, using the Ganapati idol and its surrounding display to draw attention to the need to preserve farmland and promote sustainable farming practices.
