Woman dies after electric shock
Ulhasnagar: A 26-year-old woman died of electrocution in Ulhasnagar Camp No. 3 on September 18 night while she was on her way to a relative’s home for Ganpati darshan. The deceased has been identified as Karishma Madhwani, a resident of Ganeshganga Apartments.
According to preliminary information, Karishma was walking along the road when she came into contact with an iron pole recently installed for a CCTV camera. The pole allegedly had an electrical current running through it. She suffered a severe electric shock and collapsed on the spot.
Residents rushed to assist her, but she had already died. The incident during the Ganesh festival has left the family and residents of the area in shock and has also raised concerns over public safety.
Following the incident, family members and residents demanded strict action against those responsible. Questions have also been raised over whether adequate safety precautions were followed during the installation of the CCTV pole and how the pole came into contact with a live electrical supply.
A complaint has been registered at Central Police Station. Police, along with officials from the electricity department, have begun a technical investigation to determine the exact cause of the electrocution and assign responsibility.
Residents have urged the authorities to inspect other CCTV poles and electrical installations in the area to prevent similar incidents.
