MBMC to donate Rs 1 crore to CM relief fund for drought-hit farmers

Bhayandar: In response to the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s appeal to support drought-affected farmers, the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has decided to contribute Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Mayor Dimple Mehta announced the decision during a press conference held at the civic headquarters on September 28. She said farmers, agricultural labourers, workers and rural residents across several parts of the state are facing severe challenges due to drought, including water scarcity, shortage of fodder for cattle, food availability issues, financial losses in farming and unemployment.
Mehta said standing with farmers during such a crisis was a social responsibility. She appealed to developers, industrialists, social organisations, traders, citizens and public representatives to contribute towards drought relief.
She also urged corporators to donate one month’s honorarium towards helping drought-affected farmers. Donations collected through the Mayor’s Relief Fund will be forwarded to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
