Thane: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction suffered a setback in Thane after Sejal Kadam, along with hundreds of women workers, joined the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) faction.

The induction ceremony was held at the party’s central office in the presence of NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) women’s wing state president Rohini Khadse, district president Manoj Pradhan and Rrutatai Awhad.

Kadam said she decided to join the party, expressing confidence in the leadership of Sharad Pawar and NCP national general secretary Dr Jitendra Awhad. She said the party’s inclusive approach and leadership had encouraged her to take the decision.

Welcoming Kadam and the women workers into the party fold, Rohini Khadse said the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) faction provides respect and equal opportunities to women, which has led to increasing participation of women in the organisation.

During the event, Sejal Kadam was appointed as the state vice-president of the party. Khadse expressed confidence that Kadam would work actively under the guidance of Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule.

The programme was attended by Thane civic group leader Abhijit Pawar, city working president Prakash Patil, women’s wing president Manisha Bhagat, corporators Yasin Qureshi and Maqsood Khan, youth wing working president Rajesh Kadam and other party office-bearers.
