New Delhi: Delhi Police personnel visited Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke’s Jhandewalan residence on Friday, October 16, ahead of the outfit’s planned ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march in central Delhi. Police did not disclose the reason for the visit or confirm whether he had been detained.

Sources said Dipke was served a notice under Section 29 of the Delhi Police Act, which empowers police to issue directions to maintain public order. Videos from the residence showed him signing documents, reportedly a possible peace bond. There was no official statement on the action taken against him.

The visit came amid the CJP’s protest over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. On Thursday, Dipke called on supporters to gather at Central Park in Connaught Place at 5 pm on Friday for the march.

The appeal followed the arrest of CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka earlier this week. They were taken into custody for entering Jantar Mantar, which is no longer a designated protest site, and unfurling the national flag. Both were remanded to five days of judicial custody on Wednesday.

Dipke arrived in Delhi from Mumbai on Thursday and claimed that vehicles without number plates were following him and Intelligence Bureau personnel were monitoring his residence. He had also said he was willing to face imprisonment for carrying the national flag.

The police visit left the status of the planned march unclear, with no official confirmation on whether the gathering would be permitted to proceed.
