Kalyan: Jagruti Mitra Mandal in Beturkarpada, Kalyan West, has highlighted the growing commercialization of education through its Ganeshotsav 2026 display. The presentation focuses on the rising cost of education and the financial burden it places on ordinary families.

The display portrays how education, once primarily a means of gaining knowledge, has increasingly become a major financial responsibility. It highlights expenses related to school and college fees, educational facilities, competitive examinations, and private education, showing the challenges parents face in meeting these costs.

Alongside the social message, the Mandal has continued its 14-year eco-friendly Ganeshotsav tradition. For the past 14 years, its members have crafted Ganesh idols themselves. This year’s idol was made using environmentally friendly materials, including newspaper, wheat straw, twine, wood, and shadu soil.

The Mandal has consistently used its festival celebrations to promote environmental conservation while raising awareness about important social issues. This year’s concept was developed by Jagruti Mitra Mandal, with sculptor Yatin Jadhav creating the display.

Through the theme of “Educational Commercialization,” the Mandal urges society to reflect on the increasing cost of education and the need to make it more accessible to common families.

The presentation carries the message, “Our festival… Our tradition… And a thought for our society!”
